I will greet you as you enter the waiting room. At your first appointment, I will ask you to fill
out an intake form to help me determine what type of massage you should receive.
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable room, where soft music will
be played to help you relax. I will leave the room after explaining what to expect during your session,
so that you may undress in private and get on the table under the sheets.
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, stomach, legs, feet, hands, head, neck
and shoulders. If you have a particular area you do not want me to work on, or if you are very sensitive
in a certain area, please let me know so I can adjust the massage to fit your needs.
I encourage you to let me know if you are not comfortable during the session. You are paying for the time,
and I want you to be happy with the service provided. It is important that you let me know if a specific
technique or the pressure applied is painful. Often, clients think pain during a massage is beneficial.
While this may sometimes be the case, the wrong kind of pain or pressure can be damaging, rather than beneficial.
When you book time with me, you will receive that duration of hands-on work. For example, if you book a
60-minute massage with me, I provide 60 minutes of massage. Many spas sell 60-minute massages, but only 50
minutes of the client's time is actually spent receiving the massage. I believe that if you pay for 60 minutes
of massage, you should receive 60 minutes of massage. That is why any and all interaction before and after the
session is not counted as part of the time you paid for. Interaction outside of the massage generally takes 15-25
minutes per client. This allows time for intake, client consultation, client dressing and undressing, and taking
payment. Please plan on being in my office for 15-25 minutes more than the scheduled duration of your massage.
After a massage, you will probably feel relaxed. You may experience freedom from long-term aches and pains for a
few days or weeks. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy,
heightened awareness and greater productivity, which can last for days. Occasionally, people will experience
flu-like symptoms for one or two days after the massage. Drinking a lot of water following the massage generally
decreases these symptoms. Please call me if you notice that these symptoms last for more than two days, or
if you have any side effects that you believe are a result of the work performed.
